The ancient Chinese art of tai chi is an exercise involving the body and mind with movements representative of the circular, encompassing state of the universe. It focuses on bringing serenity in action and action in serenity. Originally created as a martial art, tai chi utilises the philosophy of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements as a foundation to the practice.
Tai chi has enjoyed great popularity worldwide due to its immense health benefits. Research has shown that it successfully promotes balance and agility especially for the older population. Tai chi also regulates the immune system, improves circulatory function, maintains bone density, aligns the posture and lowers blood pressure. It restores the calmness and peace of mind that is often absent in our busy, daily lives.
The gentle, graceful movements of tai chi can be used for martial arts combat as well as for maintaining proper posture, balance and energy flow. Regular tai chi practice provides you with a complete workout for your mind, body and spirit leaving you relaxed yet invigorated.
Our school offers the 24-Form tai chi (Simplified Form), 42-Form tai chi (Competition Form), traditional Chen-style and Yang-style tai chi routines as well as weapon routines.
